Couples Counselling

I work with many couples who experience issues within their relationship that have often caused both parties anxiety, stress and uncertainty often not feeling listened to and isolated.

Remember we all have choices and the Couples Counselling is a process to share how you feel and open up discussion of often unsaid issues both recent and past that can achieve feeling listened to and an insight to how the other party feels and ways of moving forward if that is what you both want to do.

Usually at the first appointment I meet you both and aim to look at what you are both wanting from the relationship and are willing to enter into counselling to work towards a better balance for you both.

I then offer the option of seeing you both individually, which I find helps the process by enabling you to focus on your own needs and looks at the impact on your health, well-being and daily functioning as often appetite and sleep are impacted upon. Some couples prefer to always attend together and as the process is about your needs the pace and process is the way you are both comfortable to work within the process.

Some couples attend a number of sessions usually 6-12 and many will return for a check-in appointment at a monthly interval and some clients will return every few months as a means of keeping the focus on both parties needs and looking at positive progress and use the time proactively valuing each others contribution in the relationship
